The long-awaited date for the release of the iPhone 5 is rumoured to be October 21.

A screen shot of a memo for Best-Buy retailer indicates the mid-October date as the one to watch, with fans taking this as the best indication of when the phone will be available to punters.
The image was shown on ThisIsMyNext.com, which says the date was scheduled for a mysterious “Apple fixture”.
The site says it would tie in nicely with other rumours suggesting a mid-October launch is on the cards.
Apple is very well known for its secrecy policy and there has been no confirmation from the California-based giant whose boss and co-founder Steve Jobbs recently resigned.

A screen shot suggesting the date of the launch
Online phone sites who keep an expert eye out for release dates are convinced an October launch is likely.
FoneHome said one document from a well-known chain of shops read: “iPhone 5 product introduction expected, pre-sales begin for expected October week 1 launch.”
That, the Vodafone-sponsored company said, meant the report is likely to have more credibility than one from an anonymous tipster.
Another point, it says, is that Apple itself has reportedly been training its staff up on iOS5 and iCloud, the software that will come out on the iPhone 5.
Usually, Apple only starts training its staff up on new software a few weeks prior to launch.
