President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday swore in Nigeria’s first female Chief Justice, Mariam Aloma Mukhtar, with a charge to her to consider recommendations for the setting up of special courts to try corruption and terrorism cases.

By her ascension, Mukhtar is the 13th CJN and succeeds Justice Dahiru Musdapher.

At the ceremony at the State House, Abuja, women outnumbered men.
Jonathan, whose wife, Patience, attended the event, said the new CJN attained the position by virtue of her brilliance, resilience and hard work.
